Loneliness and Social Isolation

Being lonely is more than just a negative feeling it can also have real and serious health effects. As people we need to have interactions and some form of contact with others.  Loneliness and social isolation in older adults is a real problem and Zepy has a mission to help people connect.

A report by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) has identified that more than one-third of adults aged 45 and older feel lonely, and nearly one-fourth of adults aged 65 and older are considered to be socially isolated. One major finding in the study was that older adults are at increased risk for loneliness and social isolation because they are more likely to face factors such as living alone, the loss of family or friends, chronic illness. 50% increased risk of dementia and other serious medical conditions.

Health Risks of Loneliness

Social isolation can greatly increase the risk of premature death. The report also said that there can be as much as a 50% percent increased risk of dementia, 29% increased risk of heart disease and a 32% increased risk of stroke. These numbers show the very real health affects of loneliness.

For many people isolation is not by choice and they may not have friends or family close to them. Zepy wants to help change this by helping older people set up and use their devices for video calls or other ways to communicate. Not having help to technology should never prevent people from having social experiences. Zepy senior support for older people is a valuable resource for isolated people and we look forward to serving you or someone you love.

America is going through a dramatic demographic shift and the average age range is changing. It is estimated that 71.5 million people will be age 65 or older by the year 2030. Growing older can have many challenges but feeling alone and having support should not be one of those challenges.

At Zepy, our services were created to help older people with problems they face everyday but may not have the knowledge or technical abilities to do these things on their own. Sadly, many older people do not have friends or family that they can turn to when they need help. Our goal is to help our users feel safe, secure, and know that support services are a call away. We provide senior citizen help and tech support for older people and no question is too small. No one should feel alone when it comes to getting the help they need and we are always here to help.
